Police & Crime Commissioner
On 15 November 2012, elections will be held in Cheshire to elect the first Police and Crime Commissioner.
A single Police and Crime Commissioner, or PCC, will replace the Police Authority. This person will be responsible for holding the Chief Constable to account on behalf of the people of Cheshire. We are uploading information to this website that everyone can use to learn more about Police & Crime Commissioners and policing in Cheshire.
A dedicated section of the website has been set up to provide information for prospective PCC candidates. This is being regularly updated with some of the more technical detail that a prospective PCC candidate will find useful. Candidates are encouraged to visit this section where briefings and event information will be posted.
RESPONSE STILL TOP PRIORITY
Responding to emergency calls should still be the number one priority for Police Officers in Cheshire according to people who took part in a Police Authority survey.
Eighty nine per cent of the responses put the issue at the top of the list. The other "top five" priorities were detecting crime and arresting offenders, tackling violent crime, tackling organised crime and terrorism and targeting drug dealers.
