
The Police Authority has appointed Janette McCormick as Cheshire’s new Assistant Chief Constable.
Margaret Ollerenshaw, Chairman of the Police Authority said “we are delighted to make this appointment following a rigorous selection process. Janette showed a level of energy and commitment to delivering and improving policing services in Cheshire which impressed the Authority’s Selection Committee. We are looking forward to her joining the Chief Constable Dave Whatton’s chief officer team on 2 August.”
Janette McCormick, currently a Chief Superintendent with Greater Manchester Police has wide experience of operational policing and working with communities.
On news of her appointment, Janette said, "This is a proud moment in my police career. I have a strong commitment to improving the police service to local people and businesses. I look forward to the challenges that Cheshire brings.”
Janette McCormick joined Greater Manchester Police in 1989 having achieved a degree at Nottingham University. She started her police career in Salford and Manchester City Centre. She has been responsible for a number of changes including centralisation of communications, developing neighbourhood policing across Greater Manchester and establishing their road policing department.
She has experience of providing policing for Manchester United, the Commonwealth Games and the Labour Party Conference.
