Welcome to the Cheshire Police Authority website
The Authority is an independent body responsible for ensuring Cheshire Constabulary delivers an efficient and effective police service.
It is made up of 17 local people including councillors, and members of the public.
The Authority ensures that the Constabulary is accountable to the people of Cheshire and ensures that citizens have a say in how they are policed.
The Authority is responsible, amongst other matters, for setting the budget for the Constabulary and, following consultation with local communities, mapping out the strategic direction of policing. This includes agreeing policing priorities and setting the Constabulary challenging targets to drive performance higher.
We measure public confidence to ensure find out whether people feel that the police and local council are dealing with the anti-social behaviour and crime issues that matter locally. The latest Local Confidence Survey results have been published.
The Association of Police Authorities is the national voice for police authorities in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. It influences policy on policing and it supports local police authorities in their important role. To visit the APA website click http://www.apa.police.uk/APA/
The Authority is committed to ensuring that the people of Cheshire are safe, feel safe and have confidence in their policing service. The joint Constabulary and Authority Confidence | Strategy details how we are working towards this.
