AUTHORITY APPOINTS NEW ASSISTANT CHIEF CONSTABLE
The Police Authority has appointed Ruth Purdie as Cheshire’s new Assistant Chief Constable.
Margaret Ollerenshaw, Chairman of the Police Authority said “We are delighted to make this appointment following a rigorous selection process. Ruth showed a level of energy and commitment to delivering and improving policing services in Cheshire which impressed the Authority’s Selection Committee. We are looking forward to Ruth joining the Chief Constable Dave Whatton’s chief officer team.”
Ruth Purdie is currently a Chief Superintendent with North Wales Police and has a wide experience of policing and most recently was the Police Commander of the Wrexham and Flintshire areas of North Wales.
On news of the appointment, Ruth said, "I am delighted to be joining Cheshire Constabulary and excited to be working with Chief Constable Whatton and his team to deliver a quality policing service to the citizens of Cheshire.”
Ruth has extensive policing experience working with the communities of North Wales in a variety of operational roles. She has previously been commander of their Operational Communications Division, BCU Commander of Eastern Division and has advised New Zealand Police on their policing service. She is currently head of Operational Services Division, which includes air support services, firearms response, demand management and custody services.
